Jay edges Wells Community
Jay County Summer Swim
BLUFFTON — Tuesday’s swim meet was as close as some Olympic time trials.
But the Jay County Summer Swim team had just enough to edge Wells Community by three points, 551-548.
Jay County improved to 8-1 on the season, winning half of the 56 individual events and claiming 11 of 16 relays.
Jay County’s lineup of Baders and Vormohrs led the way once again in the effort to edge Wells Community.
Mara Bader took four victories, collecting wins in the butterfly, breaststroke, short free and long free.
Two of her sisters followed by notching three victories each. Alex Bader took the butterfy, IM and breastroke in the 11- and 12-year-old group while Sophie Bader nabbed wins in the buttery, IM and breastroke in the girls 15-and-older.
Anne Vormohr added three more wins in the 15-and-older group, taking the long free, backstroke and short free, while Sok Vormohr was the only triple winner on the boys side, winning the butterfly, IM and short free at the 13 and 14-year-old level.
Double event winners included Lilly Clemmons and Eliza Bader and Sydney Mathias for the girls and Alex LeMaster and Ian Reynolds on the boys side.
Ashlyn Dow won the breastroke for the girls 9 and 10-year old group and Alex Sutton won the 15-and-older boys short free.
Jay County will hold its last dual meet tonight, taking on Winchester at 6 p.m. at the Portland pool.[[In-content Ad]]
