JCHS freshman girls basketball
Jay County's freshman girls basketball team won again Wednesday while the boys fell to 1-4.
The Patriot girls used a big first quarter to take control in a 35-23 victory over the Richmond Red Devils. The boys team stumbled in the fourth quarter for a 35-31 loss to the Winchester Golden Falcons.
Brittany Manor buried three 3-pointers to lead the JCHS girls, who grabbed a 15-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and rolled to the win. Taylor Burris followed with eight points, and Deidre Chenoweth scored five.
The Patriot boys led by eight at halftime, but got doubled up 24-12 in the second half. Drew Houck reached double figures, scoring nine of his 10 points in the first half. Garrett Krieg added nine points, and Zach Cash scored eight.[[In-content Ad]]
