Jay gymnasts knock off Delta (02/06/07)

MUNCIE - The Jay County gymnastics team came away with a 93-9-90.7 victory Monday over the host Delta Eagles.

The Patriots had better scores than Delta on every event, including an advantage of 1.4 points (23-21.6) on the uneven bars. They also won the vault 25.3-24.8, beam 22.1-21.65 and floor 23.5-22.65.

Tribe dominates Cards

NEW BREMEN, Ohio - Fort Recovery's freshman girls basketball team dominated the first half in a 45-17 victory Monday over the New Bremen Cardinals.

The Indians (5-2) shut out New Bremen in the opening quarter for a 16-0 lead. They allowed just a single point in the second to go up 28-1 at the half and rolled to the win.

Lauren Staugler led a balanced Tribe effort with eight points. Alyssa Brackman, Josie Guggenbiller and Shelby Vaughn each added seven points.

Fort gets a split

FORT RECOVERY - Thanks to a huge first quarter the Fort Recovery eighth grade boys basketball team won its fourth game of the season Monday by a 46-28 count over the New Bremen Cardinals. The seventh graders dropped 36-27.

The Indian eighth grade squad rolled out to a 15-3 lead on New Bremen in the opening quarter. It increased the advantage to 16 points at the half and stayed in control to improve to 4-10.

John Homan led the victory with 20 points, and Nate Bihn joined him in double figures with 13. Shane Brunswick had 10 rebounds and three blocks, and Ryan Schoen dished out eight assists.

Fort Recovery's seventh grade team (3-11) trailed by five after the opening quarter and 22-9 at halftime. Jared Kahlig finished with 20 points, and Jacob Leuthold was second on the team with three.[[In-content Ad]]
