Thursday brought another record-breaking effort from the Jay County Summer Swim Team as it improved to 4-0 with a victory over North Adams Central.
Jay County broke two team records and one pool mark as it won 16 of 18 relays and 49 of 60 individual events. Two of the new records came in the 8-and-younger girls division, where Jay County stayed perfect on the season.
The 100-yard freestyle relay team of Madi Long, Alex Bader, Cori Stone and Sophie Bader eked out one new record, breaking the former team mark in the event by just three hundredths of a second. Sophie Bader also set a new individual mark by an even slimmer margin, swimming the 25 butterfly one hundredth of a second faster than Abby Arnold’s pool record time.
Another of Arnold’s records fell to Cori Vormohr in the 15-and-older girls butterfly.
Vormohr won with a new record time of 1-minute, 13.34 seconds.
Joining Sophie Bader in the sweep of the 8-and-younger girls events were Alex Bader, Anne Vormohr, Cori Stone, Madi Long and Carley Stone.
Jay County also had six swimmers — Sok Vormohr, Adam Young, Eme Miller, Wiley Young, Aaron Hudson and Sam Miller — come away with three victories apiece.
Sok Vormohr and Adam Young controlled the 8-and-younger boys division. Sok Vormohr was first in the long freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, and Young won the butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle.
Eme Miller captured wins in the 11-12-year-old-girls butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle while Wiley Young took the boys butterfly, backstroke and individual medley. Hudson’s victories came in the 13-14-year-old boys backstroke, individual medley and breaststroke, and Sam Miller finished first in the 15-and-older boys long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley.
Adding two wins apiece for Jay County were Zane Shreve, Mary Hudson, Michelle Landfair, Alysha Miller and Perry Hull.[[In-content Ad]]
