Jay swimmers clobber Union City
Jay County Summer Swim Team
UNION CITY — The Jay County Summer Swim Team’s third straight victory came in dominant fashion.
The team won 51 of 62 individual events, sweeping 15 of them, and took first in 18 of 20 relays in Tuesday’s 882-495 win over Union City.
Kaitlyn Dow won the girls backstroke, individual medley and breaststroke, Alex Bader was first in the girls long freestyle, butterfly and short freestyle and Christian Vormohr took the boys long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle as they combined to lead a dominating effort in the 11-12-year-old division. Tayler Smeltzer added two wins, and David Ostrowski picked up one.
Jay County was also strong in the 13-14-year-old division with three wins apiece from Anne Vormohr, Sophie Bader and Sok Vormohr. Quin Blakely posted a pair of victories, and Sydney Mathias won the open girls 200 freestyle.
Mark Habegger, Mara Bader and Mary Hudson also added three victories apiece, while Konner Sommers, Damian Hicks, Eliza Bader, Lilly Clemmons, Eme Miller and Josh Lykins each earned a pair of victories.
Winning single events for Jay County were Abilene Hough, Ryleigh Oswalt, Ezekiel Corwin, Erica Hathaway, Ashlyn Dow, David Ostrowski, Sydney Mathias and Alex Sutton.[[In-content Ad]]
