Jay swimmers cruise past Bellmont

DECATUR - The Jay County Winter Swim team rolled to victory in its first dual meet of the season Tuesday, crushing host Bellmont 516-270.

Eight swimmers each won three individual events, and Jay County took to the top spot in 13-of-14 relays.

James Keen and Anne Vormohr led a domination of the 11-12-year-old division. Keen was first in the boys long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley while Vormohr took the top spot in the girls butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke. Ashley Mark and Sok Vormohr added two wins in the girls and boys events respectively.

In the 8-and-younger division Eliza Bader won the girls butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke while Taylor Smeltzer took the same three boys events. Alex Bader won the 9-10-year-old girls long freestyle, individual medley and short freestyle, and Brayden Collingsworth picked up victories in the boys butterfly, backstroke and short freestyle.

McKinley Timmerman finished first in the 13-and-older boys long freestyle, individual medley and breaststroke, and Caitlin Mark was first in the girls individual medley, breaststroke and short freestyle.

Sydney Mathias and Katy Smeltzer each had two victories.

McKibben rolls 299

Jake McKibben made a run at perfection Monday, narrowly missing a 300 game at the Brown Bowl.

He rolled the second 299 of his career in men's league action. It was the opening game of his evening, and he went on to roll a 680 series.[[In-content Ad]]
