The Jay County Summer Swim Team dropped its first home dual meet of the season Monday, falling to the Catalina Swim Club of Muncie, 665-533.

Jay County struggled to win races, taking just 13 of 60 individual events and five of 20 relays.

It slipped to 1-1 on the year with the defeat.

Still, the team had two triple event winners, including a pair of record-breaking finishes from Cori Vormohr.

Vormohr set team and pool records in the 11-12-year-old girls butterfly and individual medley. She also took first in the breaststroke.

Alysha Miller added a trio of victories in the 9-10-year-old girls division. She was first in the long freestyle, butterfly and backstroke.

Sam Miller added wins in the 11-12-year-old boys long freestyle and breaststroke.

Winning one event apiece for Jay County were Rachel Vogler, Annie Vormohr, Ivy Simons, Shelby Rines and Ashley Imel.

Catalina’s Daniel Proctor set a new pool record in the 9-10-year-old boys long freestyle.

Jay County’s next meet is Thursday when it visits Wells Community at 6 p.m.

Amber Detro paced the offense, and Annastasia Turner tossed three spectacular innings of relief to lead Albertson’s past Sibery Electric 9-6 in Portland Junior League Major League softball action Monday.

Kessler’s Sporting Goods defeated Jay County Monuments 11-6 in Rookie League baseball, and Barnett’s topped Ponderosa 24-10.
