Jay County Summer Swim Team
DECATUR — The girls were nearly unbeatable Thursday in leading the Jay County Summer Swim team to their second consecutive three-win week with a 666-503 victory over host North Adams Central.
Jay County (7-1) took every race in the 8-and-younger, 11-12-year-old, 13-14-year-old and 15-and-older girls divisions.
Four different swimmers contributed individual wins in the 8-and-younger events, with Lilly Clemmons taking the individual medley and short freestyle and Eliza Bader first in the long freestyle and butterfly. Ashlyn Dow added a victory in the backstroke and Kearsten Myers won the breaststroke.
The 13-14-year-olds followed a similar pattern, with Sophie Bader (long freestyle and backstroke) and Anne Vormohr (butterfly and short freestyle) each winning two events. Taylor Campbell earned the top spot in the breaststroke while Ashley Mark was first in the individual medley.
Sydney Mathias grabbed victories in the long freestyle, backstroke and individual medley for the 11-12-year-old girls, and Alex Bader took the butterfly, breaststroke and short freestyle. In the 15-and-older events, Eme Miller captured wins in the butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle while Mary Hudson topped the field in the long freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.
Also chipping in two wins apiece were Ezekiel Corwin, Erica Hathaway, Tayler Smeltzer and Neal Fennig.[[In-content Ad]]
