A year after taking part in the Bedford North Lawrence tournament, the Patriots will play in another. This time, they'll be a little closer to home.
The Jay County High School girls basketball team will be one of four girls basketball teams featured in the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle Fieldhouse.
The Patriots will play in the first game of the Dec. 29 tournament against Plainfield at 11 a.m. Mooresville and Rushville will follow at 1 p.m.
The consolation game will be at 6 p.m., followed by the championship game.
Jay County finished the 2008-09 regular season with a perfect 18-0 record before getting knocked off in the sectional by Fort Wayne South Side. Plainfield was 19-2 with its only losses coming to Mooresville in the sectional championship and state runner-up Ben Davis.
Mooresville posted a 23-2 record, losing to Plainfield during the regular season and Ben Davis in the semi-state. Rushville was 17-5 and made it to the regional championship game before losing to Crawfordsville.
The boys tournament will be Dec. 30 with first-round games pitting Munster against Mount Vernon and Princeton Community versus Zionsville.[[In-content Ad]]
