PORTLAND — With the perfect record on the line, it was the 8-and-younger swimmers who came up big.
Three from the youngest age group — Levi Hummel, Sok Vormohr and Annie Vormohr — racked up three wins for the Jay County Summer Swim Team Thursday night. They led the team to a 679-520 victory over South Adams, pushing the squad’s record to 6-0.
Hummel and Sok Vormohr combined to dominate the 8-and-younger boys division for Jay County, which won 34 of 60 individual events and 12 of 20 relays on the night. Hummel was first in the long freestyle, individual medley and breaststroke, and Vormohr took the butterfly, backstroke and short freestyle.
Annie Vormohr earned her three wins in the girls backstroke, individual medley and short freestyle.
Five swimmers picked up a pair of wins for Jay County, including two in the 9-10-year-old girls division. Rachel Vogler won the backstroke and short freestyle, and Caitlin Mark captured the individual medley and breaststroke.
Michelle Landfair was first in the 13-14-year-old girls long freestyle and individual medley, and Chance Milligan took the boys long freestyle and short freestyle. Amber Kelly won the 15-and-older girls butterfly and breaststroke, and Joseph Vormohr had victories in the boys breaststroke and short freestyle.
Mary Hudson also had a couple of wins, taking the top spot in the 11-12-year-old girls butterfly and short freestyle.
Adding single wins for Jay County were Sophie Bader, Amelia Freeman, Alysha Miller, Wiley Young, Neal Fennig, Richard Osterholt, Ivy Simons, Lauren Murrell, Sam Miller, Perry Hull and Brittany Teagle.[[In-content Ad]]
