Jay's Keen earns victory in final start at Ancilla (05/12/07)

A pair of former Patriots had split results in their final starts of the season for Ancilla College.
Chad Keen, a 2005 Jay County High School graduate, closed with a win while Josh Shatto (2006) suffered a defeat.
Keen had some early issues against Glen Oaks May 2, giving up six runs in the first four innings. But he settled in from there as he went the distance for an 8-6 victory.
Shatto was the losing pitcher for the Chargers in the first game of the double-header, a 9-0 defeat to Glen Oaks.
Jill Roughia
Jay County - 2005
Scored a top-10 finish for the Huntington University women's track team at the Butler Twilight meet.
Roughia placed 10th in her only event at the May 5 competition. She finished the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12-minutes, 31.96 seconds.
Heath Williams
Jay County - 2004
Crossed home plate with the game-winning run Thursday as the Manchester College baseball team beat Transylvania 5-2 in the opening round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament.
With the game tied at two, Williams smacked a two-out single to left field. He stole second base and scored on Josh Buell's triple to right-center. Manchester followed with losses to Mount St. Joseph and and Anderson to drop out of the tournament.
Alyssa Johnson
Jay County - 2006
Finished 14th in her only individual event and competed in a pair of relays as the Taylor University women's track team hosted the National Collegiate Christian Athletic Association Championships May 4 through 6.
Johnson placed 14th in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2-minutes, 31.25 seconds. She teamed with Becky Hegelein, Alyssa Hartman and Winchester graduate Tabitha Bogue for eighth place in the 4x880-relay in 10:22.14, and joined Hegelein, Lizzy Hawn and Vanessa Fereshetian for a 10th-place time of 4:27.98 in the 4x400 relay.
Sarah Schmitz

Was one of several members of the University of St. Francis softball team honored by the Mid-Central Conference.
Schmitz, a senior, was named to the All-MCC Academic Team.[[In-content Ad]]
