Jay's Taylor seeded 19th

Jay County High School’s Megan Taylor is seeded 19th out of 20 competitors for tonight’s diving regional meet at Fishers at 6 p.m. The top four athletes at each regional will advance to Saturday’s state finals.
Taylor advanced to the regional with a third-place, scoring 273.75 points to finish behind champion Leah Huggins of Norwell and runner-up Kaitlyn Kennedy of Delta. She was the sectional runner-up a year ago, and has finished 17th in the regional in each of the last two seasons.
The senior is seeded ahead of Delta’s Kenna Gibson, who finished fourth at the JCHS sectional with 271.5 points. Micah Chiafos, who placed fourth at the Lafayette Jefferson sectional with 286.2 points, is seeded 18th.
Elwood’s Mary Beth Dunnichay is the regional favorite after scoring 519.65 points to win the Hamilton Southeastern sectional. Noblesville’s Katie Bittner (448.95) is the No. 2 seed.

Hull places third
COLDWATER, Ohio — Marshall Hull turned in the top effort for the Fort Recovery High School swim team Saturday at the Coldwater Invitational.
Hull placed third in the 500-yard freestyle behind a pair of swimmers from Versailles in 6 minutes, 25.81 seconds.

Andy Gray took fifth place in the 100 freestyle in 58.26, and was also seventh in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.43. Lane Hull posted times of 1:16.23 for third place in the 100 backstroke and 1:02.05 for seventh in the 100 freestyle.
Kelly Hull was 16th for the Indian girls in the 200 freestyle in 3:02.72.

Keen breaks record
MUNCIE — James Keen broke a team record Tuesday as the Jay County middle school swim teams came away with a split decision against host Delta. The Jay County girls won 105-75, and the boys lost 116-54.
Keen’s record came in the 200-yard freestyle as he won the race in 2 minutes, 10.13 seconds. He broke the record of 2:14 set by Caleb Dann in 1998.
He also finished first in the 50 butterfly.
Individual victories for the girls team, which won all but one event, came from Laci Hall, Ashley Mark, Katy Smeltzer, Sophie Bader and Anne Vormohr. Jay County also won all three relays.
Sok Vormohr added a victory for the boys team.[[In-content Ad]]
