OSSIAN - The Patriots and Starfires finished back-to-back behind the big three Saturday.

Oak Hill pulled away to win the Norwell Invitational with 275 points, followed by a tight battle between the host Knights (236) and Columbia City (235) for second place. Jay County was fourth with 179 points and South Adams was fifth with 141, nearly double the total for sixth-place Bellmont (77).

Cori Vormohr carried the Patriots with a pair of victories in her specialty events.

The senior won the 100-yard butterfly by a half-second over Norwell's Dani Thomas in 1-minute, 2.53 seconds. She and teammate Mary Hudson turned in an impressive one-two finish in the breaststroke with times of 1:11.62 and 1:13.4.

Vormohr and Hudson teamed with Michelle Landfair and Eme Miller for second in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:06.97. In the 200 freestyle relay it was Vormohr, Landfair, Eme Miller and Aly Miller in third at 1:50.25.

Junior Michelle Landfair also had a pair of top-four finishes for the Patriots. She took third place in the 50 freestyle in 27.55 seconds and was fourth in the 100 freestyle at 1:01.2.

The top results for the Starfires were a pair of third-place efforts from sophomore Erika Waugh. She finished the 500 freestyle one spot ahead of senior teammate Jessica Sharp in 5:53.61, and posted a time of 1:09.45 in the 100 backstroke.

Sharp was also fourth in the 50 freestyle behind Landfair in 27.82, and Allison Beitler took fourth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:15.71.

Waugh, Beitler, Jessica Sharp and Alyssa Sharp were fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:12.57, and Waugh, Jessica Sharp, Jansen Yoder and Deserae Kirchhofer finished fifth in the 200 medley relay in 2:08.37.

The Miller sisters turned in four top-10 finishes for Jay County, with Eme, a freshman, fifth in the 100 butterfly in 1:09.17. She added a sixth-place effort in the 200 freestyle at 2:18.34.

Aly Miller, a sophomore, placed seventh in the 200 individual medley as she reached the wall in 2:41.28.

She was also ninth in the 500 freestyle at 6:28.89.

Briann Saxman, Mary Hudson, Laura Bowen and Aly Miller were sixth for JCHS in 2:09.16 in the 200 medley relay.

Yoder was sixth for South Adams in the 50 freestyle at 28.52. Other top efforts from the Starfires came from Beitler (seventh - 100 freestyle), Alyssa Sharp (eighth - 200 individual medley) and Alex Fox (eighth - 100 butterfly).

Beitler, Yoder, Alyssa Sharp and Jalisa Balsiger placed seventh in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:56.33.
