Alex Bader broke another record and Christopher McDowell and Kaitlyn Dow joined her in winning two events apiece Monday to lead the Jay County middle school swim team.
Jay County cruised to a pair of victories over the visiting Muncie Northside Titans with the boys team winning 171-83. The girls won by a 180-127 score.
Bader won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 12.23 seconds, to break the record of 1:13.3 held by her sister, Sophie. She was also first in the 50 butterfly in 27.85.
McDowell took the top spot in the boys 200 freestyle in 2:33.05 and 400 freestyle in 5:45.09. Dow’s wins came with times of 1:17.65 in the girls 100 individual medley and 5:27.39 in the 400 freestyle.
Ian Reynolds cruised to victory in the 100 backstroke, winning by more than 15 seconds in 1:23.38. Also adding wins for the boys team were Joseph Holcomb in the 50 freestyle with a time of 33.14, Alex LeMaster in the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.03 and Lee Habegger in the 50 butterfly in 36.52.
Sydney Mathias was first in the 100 backstroke for the girls team in 1:10.88, and Louellen Moser won the diving competition with 73.4 points.

WJMS wrestlers split
MUNCIE — The West Jay Middle School wrestling team defeated Monroe Central 75-30 Monday, but lost 78-15 to the host Wilson Panthers.
Tristen Miller (95/100) was the only Eagle to record victories in two contested matches, winning by pins in 34 seconds against Monroe Central and 36 seconds against Wilson. Also adding pins in the victory over Monroe Central were Malcolm McIntire (80), Ryan Hough (85), Logan Drumm (105) and Gage Newsome (160).
Nick Lykins (125) won by a pin in 3 minutes, 23 seconds, against Wilson, and Nathan Hamilton (120) picked up a victory by a 7-4 decision.

Huey places second
INDIANAPOLIS — Jocelyn Huey finished second in the all-around competition to lead a group of Jay County gymnasts who competed Saturday and Sunday at the Go Red For Women meet at Geist Sports Academy.
Huey was the runner-up on the 12-and-older xcel gold vault and floor exercise respectively with scores of 9.4 and 9.375. She added a 36.45 to place second in the all-around competition.
Halle Hill finished fourth in the vault with a 9.3, Hannah Outcalt was fifth on the floor with a 9.275 and Riley Leavell finished fifth on the balance beam with a 9.25. Courtney Miles posted a 9.1 for seventh on the vault.[[In-content Ad]]
