UNION CITY — The road trip ended in style.
Jay County’s boys soccer team ended its five-game stint away from home to open the season with an 8-0 victory Saturday over the Union City Indians.
The Patriots (2-3) dominated host Union City, taking 17 shots on goal compared to just five for the Indians.
Three of the Jay County scores came from foreign exchange student Vlady Bjelica in just his second game with the squad. He scored his first JCHS goal with seven minutes to go in the first half to give the Patriots a 3-0 lead, and added two more after the break.
Scott “Scooter” Bruggeman had a pair of goals, including the first of the game. He also assisted on two scores.
Luke McClung and Mason Shreve each added one goal, and Kyle Laux finished with a pair of assists.
Nic Fejza, also a foreign exchange student, totaled five saves.
Jay County will play its first home game of the season Thursday when it hosts the Blackford Bruins.[[In-content Ad]]
