OSSIAN — Michelle Landfair’s pair of wins and a diving sweep helped lift the Jay County middle school girls swim team to a 98-88 victory over the Norwell Knights Wednesday. The Jay County boys team lost to Norwell, 91-81.
Landfair dominated the sprints, winning the 50-yard freestyle by more than two seconds in 29.39 seconds. She cruised in the 100 freestyle as well, clobbering the field in 1-minute, 8.68 seconds.
She was also in on the lone Jay County relay victory of the night, teaming with Caitlyn Ruchgy, Laura Bowen and Michaela Long to win the 200 freestyle in 2:12.66.
Megan Taylor led the diving sweep for Jay County, winning by more than 20 points with a total of 106.20. Nikka Hamilton finished second, just two tenths in front of teammate Kylie Barber.
Lynne Inman and Mikaila Segraves went one-two in the 100 backstroke, with Inman winning in 1:26.37. Long was first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:22.78.
Jay County’s boys team stayed closed despite earning just two wins. A.J. Pettyjohn was first in diving with 82.7 points, and Colton Smith won the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.02.[[In-content Ad]]
