JC girls tankers remain unbeaten (03/04/05)

BLUFFTON — It wasn’t easy, but the Jay County middle school girls swim team stayed perfect Thursday night with a 120-11 victory over Bluffton.
The Jay County boys squad had a close meet as well, but slipped to 2-4 with a 110-104 loss.
Five different swimmers posted wins for the girls team as it improved to 6-0.
Cori Vormohr paced that effort with a pair of victories. She was first in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1-minute, 14.63 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.24.
Vormohr also teamed with Briann Saxman, Kelci Reed and Maddie Fennig to win the 300 freestyle relay in 3:39.75.
Reed finished first in the 100 backstroke in 1:34.44, and Michelle Landfair was first in the 50 butterfly in 38.44 seconds. Megan Taylor scored 103.80 points to take the diving win, and Ivy Simons was first in the 400 freestyle.
Simons, Landfair, Saxman and Lauren Murrell teamed for second relay win, taking the 200 medley relay in 2:39.48.
Reed, Saxman, Rachel Osterholt and April Acker each added one second-place finish.
Steven Kelly earned two of the four individual wins for the boys team. He was first in diving with 106.7 points, and captured the 400 freestyle victory in 6:28.19.
Chance Milligan added a win in the 100 freestyle in 1:13, and Nathan Cain took the 50 freestyle in 35.69.
Kelly, Milligan, Cain and Richard Osterholt teamed to finish first in the 300 freestyle relay in 4:00.07.[[In-content Ad]]
