FRANKLIN - The Patriots broke even on their long day Saturday.
Jay County High School's volleyball team split its four matches, three of which went three games, at the Franklin Community Invitational. It defeated Greenfield-Central and the host Grizzly Cubs while losing to Connersville and Franklin Central.
Senior Sarah Westgerdes racked up 38 kills for the weekend, including team highs of 11 against Greenfield-Central and eight in the two-game win over Franklin Community. Kelsey Wood added 21 kills and 45 blocks, and Amy Alig finished with 19 kills and eight blocks.
Chelsea Grady had 13 digs in each of the Patriot wins as she finished the weekend with 47 digs and 19 points. Kelci Reed powered the service game with 28 points, including nine aces, to go along with 33 digs.
Kristi Morningstar put up 29 assits for JCHS (10-11), and Liz Walker scored 20 points.[[In-content Ad]]
