MONROEVILLE — The Patriots managed to win one game, but that was all.
Jay County’s volleyball team took the second game of the opening match of the Heritage Invitational Saturday against New Haven, but fell in the third for a 25-17, 17-25, 25-19 loss. The squad went on to drop matches to Fort Wayne Canterbury 25-20, 25-20 and the host Patriots 25-11, 25-7.
Theresa Reinhart led Jay County (2-7) in its closest match of the day, posting team highs of six kills and six digs against New Haven. Shelby Rines matched Reinhart’s six digs and also had a pair of blocks.
Erica Clark posted 18 assists and five aces, Markie Runyon had three kills and Ashley Horn notched five digs.
No Jay County player managed more than two kills in either of the final two matches, and the Patriots had just one kill total against Heritage.
Jessica Muhlenkamp, Brittany O’Dell and Clark each posted two kills in the loss to Canterbury. Muhlenkamp added six aces and three blocks, both team highs. Clark had seven assists, and Stephanie Wellman came up with four digs.
