JC splits at Delta (11/25/03)

The Jay County freshman boys basketball teams split a pair of games against the Delta Eagles Monday. The Patriots lost the A game 30-25, but came back to win the B game 31-18.
John Wenger, Rhett Retter and Travis Dunn paced the A Team with six points apiece. Casey Waters scored three points.
Zach Chenoweth was the only Patriot to reach double figures, scoring 12 points for the B team. Kaleb Carpenter had eight points, and Nathan Helm finished with five points.
Miller sweeps for Jay
Sam Miller was perfect for the Jay County Winter Swim Team this weekend, going 5-0 at Connersville’s Turkey Trot. Jay County finished fifth in the eight-team competition.
Miller was one of five Jay County competitors to win high-point honors in his age group. He took first in the 100-yard freestyle, 50-yard backstroke, 50-yard breaststroke, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley in the 11-12-year-old boys division.
Also topping their age groups in total points were Annie Vormohr, Alysha Miller, Cori Vormohr and Justin Klopp.
Alysha Miller had two wins and set two new team records, breaking her own mark in the 100-yard freestyle and setting a new record in the 200-yard individual medley.
Cori Vormohr broke her own team record in the 200-yard individual medley as she won four events. Justin Klopp also won one event.[[In-content Ad]]
