INDIANAPOLISā- Ten boys basketball teams in Indiana are undefeated. Seven girls teams still boast unbeaten records.
But only one high school is perfect in both - Jay County.
The Patriot girls team (14-0) remained No. 6 in the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association poll this week. The boys (7-0) moved up a spot to finish tied for 14th in the voting by The Associated Press.
Jay County's girls earned 65 poll points, 27 behind No. 5 Mooresville (14-0) and six ahead of No. 7 Fishers (15-2).
The boys team totaled seven poll points to tie with Warsaw.
The combined 21-0 record is the best in the state as the teams head into action tonight - the girls travel to Blackford (9-4) and the boys host Connersville (6-2). The next best school is Terre Haute South, which has its girls team at 14-0 and ranked third in Class 4A and its boys team at 11-1 and ranked fourth.
The Patriot girls, whose coach Kirk Comer earned his 200th career win Jan. 13 against Huntington North, are also seventh in the state overall in the Sagarin Ratings and 10th in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association poll. The boys rank second in defensive average at 37.7 points per game.[[In-content Ad]]
