JC tops Spartans, Rebels
JCHS cross country
MUNCIE — With five runners in the top six, the Jay County High School girls cross country team cruised to an easy victory Tuesday over its former Olympic Athletic Conference rivals.
The Patriot girls team scored 20 points, easily outdistancing runner-up Connersville at the three-team meet.
Host Muncie Southside was a distant third with 102.
Katie Simmons paced the Patriots with her runner-up time of 22 minutes, 34 seconds, leading a group of six straight JCHS finishers. Eme Miller was third in 22:35, followed by Liz Lennartz with a time of 22:37.
Logan Laux finished fifth in 23:02, and Miranda Gerber finished in 23:10 to round out the team score in sixth place.
Chaz Carroll placed turned in a seventh place finish in 20:37 for the Jay County boys, who do not have enough runners for a team score. Zach Johnson was 16th in 24:34.
Abigail Johnson was seventh for the girls team in 23:16, and Leah Wellman took ninth in 23:35.[[In-content Ad]]
