Last week vs. Anderson Highland: The Patriots put up a strong fight in a 27-20 loss to Anderson Highland, which beat the top-ranked team in Class 2A a week earlier. JCHS fell behind 13-0 and struggled in the red zone before the intermission, but controlled the ball for nearly 35 minutes and pushed the Scots in the second half. Zach Cash ran for 125 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 132 yards. Michael Daniels added 108 rushing yards.
Season leaders: Passing - Zach Cash - 26-of-63 for 263 yards and one TD. Rushing - Michael Daniels - 76 carries for 432 yards and five TDs, Cash - 46 carries for 255 yards and three TDs. Receiving - Ben Vance - 4 receptions for 87 yards and one TD. Defense - Dillon Easton - 29 tackles.

Last week vs. Delta: The Eagles racked up 445 yards in the first half and scored on each of their first six possessions in handing Southside a 42-10 defeat. Shaq Buchanan had the only touchdown for the Rebels on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. Justin Belcher added a 33-yard field goal.
Season leaders (through three games): Passing - Nick Dyer - 45-of-80 for 531 yards. Rushing - Shaq Buchanan - 45 carries for 254 yards and two TDs. Receiving - Coty Reynolds - 17 receptions fo 208 yards.
Last season: In one of the greatest displays of offense in state history, Jay County dropped a 63-54 decision to the Rebels. The two teams set a state record with 1,251 total yards, and there were eight TDs scored in the thrid quarter alone. Patriot quarterback Billy Wellman broke his own school record with 433 passing yards to go along with five TDs, four of which went to Brandon Reynard. Southside's Jamil Smith had 491 yards through the air and another 107 on the ground.
Game notes: Through four weeks the teams already have two common opponents. Jay County fell 56-6 to Delta and defeated Franklin County 24-22. Southside lost 42-10 to Delta and beat Franklin County 35-14 ... Since their first meeting in 1985, the Patriots have never had a winning season without beating Southside ...
