MARION — The Jay County High School girls golf team turned in a ninth-place finish at Monday’s Marion Invitational.
The Patriots posted a score of 421 to finish four strokes behind Blackford and Pendleton Heights at the 14-team event at Marion Elks Country Club. Yorktown won the event with a 347, and the host Giants were the runners-up at 370.
Macey Gerber and Abby Denney shared the team lead for JCHS, each shooting 98.
Gerber improved upon her score by five strokes over last season, recording four bogeys and two pars on the front nine. She also had one par on the back nine.
Denney turned in the lone birdie of the day for the Patriots on the par-4 18th hole. She also had two pars and seven bogeys in her round.
Kennedy Windlan of champion Yorktown was the medalist with a 78.
Brittany Stevens trailed Gerber and Denney, recording her lone par on the par-3 13th hole. She also had seven bogeys, five of which came on the back nine as she shot 108.
Whitney Gray rounded out the team score with four bogeys on the way to a 117. Alysia Fennig has two bogeys as she finished at 119.[[In-content Ad]]
