JCHS golfers improve to 3-0 (08/22/2008)

MUNCIE - The Patriots skipped the 190s all together.
After scoring in the 200s in its first two dual matches of the season, the Jay County High School girls golf team got a pair of career-best scores Thursday and crushed the Muncie Southside Rebels 184-238.
The score was a season-best by 17 strokes, and was eight strokes short of the school record set last season.
Senior Jennifer Hunt paced the Patriots (3-0) with a career-best 42 at Crestview Golf Course. She parred the par-4 first and sixth holes and the par-3 third and ninth, and also had four bogeys.
Abby Denney, a sophomore, matched her career-best for nine holes with a 47. Her pars came on the par-4 fifth and eighth holes, and she also had four bogeys.
Senior Ivy Simons also shot 47 with pars on the first, sixth and ninth holes. Sophomore Cara Garringer had the lone birdie of the day, on the par-5 second hole, added back-to-back pars on the fourth and fifth for a 48.
Alex Bunch shot 58.
Junior varsity
Rachel Osterholt shot the best junior varsity score for Jay County with a 50. Southside did not have a JV squad.
Osterholt had a par on the sixth hole and also had three bogeys. Macey Gerber finished with a 57, and Anneliese Jetmore had a 62.[[In-content Ad]]
