JCHS golfers settle for split
JCHS boys golf
MUNCIE - The Jay County High School boys golf team took a split Tuesday, finishing with a score of 180 at Crestview Golf Club. The Muncie Southside Rebels won the match with a 160, and Daleville finished third at 193.
Drew Houck had five pars, including four in a row on the second through fifth holes, to lead the Patriots. He finished with a 41.
Jeremy McKnight of Southside earned Medalist honors with a 37. Daleville's top score was a 47 from Taylor Harris.
Ritchie Carducci hit the shot of the night on the par-5 second hole to turn in Jay County's first eagle of the season. He added two pars and shot 46.
Justen Keller birdied the second hole and also finished with a 46. Austin Mann and Evan Ryder each finished at 47.
Rockets take loss
RICHMOND - The Portland Rockets gave up three runs in the first inning Tuesday on the way to a 5-2 loss to the Richmond RiverRats.
Portland fell behind early and trailed 5-0 heading into the final frame. It loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth - Riley Muhlenkamp had the only hit of the inning - but was only able to score two runs.
Dan Bollenbacher, a 2008 South Adams graduate, took the loss, giving up three runs while striking out three and walking one in five innings. Bryce Cook, who tossed two scoreless innings, and Will Walters each pitched in relief.
The Rockets' offense went down in order five times in the game.[[In-content Ad]]
