JCHS golfers win 3 in a row (04/25/08)

HARTFORD CITY - Another solid round led the Patriots to a third straight victory Thursday night.
The Jay County High School boys golf team improved to 3-1 in dual meets, defeating the Blackford Bruins 169-192.
Adam Gray earned match medalist honors, knocking in a pair of birdies for a 1-over-par 37 at Blackford Country Club. He played the par-5 third hole and the par-4 eighth each at 1-under, and also had three pars.
Chase Wellman also birdied No. 3 and added two pars as he came up with the No. 2 score for the Patriots at 42. Adam Horn knocked in a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole and added pars on Nos. 7 and 9 for a 44, and Jonathan Fennig poured in consecutive pars on the third, fourth and fifth holes for a 46.
Justen Moser matched Gray's birdie on No. 8 and shot 47.
Franklin Crist turned in the top score for Blackford at 43.
In junior varsity action Adam Mescher had a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole and parred the ninth for a 44 to lead Jay County to a 190-245 win. Brad Horn followed with a 48, and Drew Houck and Caleb Fennig finished with matching 49s.
WJMS track falls
The West Jay Middle School boys track team managed just a single victory in three team action.
Marion won with 75 points, followed by Hartford City (21) and the Eagles (18).
