JCHS netters cruise
JCHS girls tennis
After suffering back-to-back losses, the Jay County High School girls tennis team got back on track Monday.
Powered by a pair of shutouts, the Patriots rolled to a 5-0 domination of the visiting Winchester Golden Falcons.
Mariah Clark and Alyssa Rigby set the tone for the match at No. 2 and 3 singles respectively. Clark clobbered Robin Goodhew 6-0, 6-0, and Rigby rolled over Taylor Kirby by the same score.
Kayla Martin completed the singles sweep for JCHS (4-2) with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Gracie Rosson at the No. 1 position.
In the No. 1 doubles match, Becky Muhlenkamp and Emily Huntsman blasted Andrea Fodrea and Alysha Wright 6-2, 6-0. Ashley Caupp and Danielle Chenoweth defeated Heather Hersberger and Kristen Steveson 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Junior varsity
The Patriots turned in three shutouts as they defeated Winchester 10-2.
Brittany White topped Nichole Caylor 4-0, 4-0 at No. 1 singles, and Cindy Hein cruised past Sarah Retter 4-0, 4-0 at No. 4 singles. Chelsea Kimmel and Jessica Ooten also rolled to a shutout of Kendra Day and Mylie Winger in the No. 1 doubles match.
Other singles victories came from Joni Degler and Rachel Ray. Winning doubles teams were Alicia Degler and Dezie Clay, Lissa Simms and Jeanette Thomas, Melinda Penrod and Kyla McKibben, Mackenzie McIntire and Miranda Reinhart, and Emily Morris and Brittany Stevens.[[In-content Ad]]
