JCHS rallies vs. Raiders
JCHS softball
PONETO - The lead got away, but not for long.
After allowing three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday, the Jay County High School softball team rallied in the top of the seventh for a 7-3 victory over the host Southern Wells Raiders.
A day after blasting Muncie Southside 29-2, the Patriots (3-2) took a while to find their offense. They scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings before racking up five in the seventh to reclaim the lead.
Pazia Speed continued to swing a hot bat for JCHS, following up Thursday's four-hit performance with a 3-for-3 effort against the Raiders. She scored three times and drove in a pair of runs.
Brittney Watson had two hits and two RBIs, and Brittany Mann drove in two runs. Danielle Wellman, Tiffany Davis and Selena McKibben each had a hit and a run.
Watson earned her first victory of the year as she struck out six batters and did not allow a walk. She went the distance, giving up three runs on four hits.[[In-content Ad]]
