Jay County made the most of its final home warm-up before the sectional tournament.
Both Patriot swim teams came out victorious Thursday night with the girls topping the Marion Giants 183-131 and the boys winning 178-136.
Aly Miller, Michelle Landfair and Cori Vormohr each won a pair of events for the girls team, which closed its dual-meet season with an 8-6-1 record. It will host the sectional preliminary round Jan. 31 followed by the finals on Feb. 2.
Tom McCord, Sam Miller and Aaron Hudson added two victories apiece for the boys team (9-3), which will close with a pair of meets on the road before hosting the sectional Feb. 14 and 16.
McCord made the most of the final home dual of his career, dominating a pair of events. He took the 200-yard freestyle by nearly 10 seconds in 1:55.57, and was almost 30 seconds ahead of the field in the 500 freestyle at 5:22.15.
The senior also teamed with Sam Miller, Hudson and Chance Milligan for a winning time of 1:37.63 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and joined Milligan, Neal Fennig and Nathan Cain to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:47.22.
The first-place efforts for the JCHS girls included a pair of career-best efforts.
One of those came from freshman Aly Miller, leading a sweep of the 200 freestyle.
She finished in a career-best 2:16.22, Rachel Osterholt was second with a career-best time at 2:30.67 and Maddie Fennig took third. Miller's other win came in the 500 freestyle in 6:05.78.
Nadlie Runyon, a sophomore and first-year diver, had a big evening as well. Needing just 28 points to clear the 200-point plateau for the first time in her career, she earned 5.5s across the board to finish at 208.75 with teammate April Acker in second.
Hudson led a one-two finish in the 100 breaststroke for the JCHS boys at 1:03.98 with Lance VanSkyock second. He was also first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.74.
Sam Miller completed the 200 individual medley in 2:11.15 for a one-two finish with Fennig. He also took the 100 freestyle in 50.14.
Neal Fennig picked up the Patriots' other individual win in 1:04.12. Fennig, Hudson, VanSkyock and Sam Miller posted a winning time of 1:49.86 in the 200 medley relay.
Landfair was in control in the sprints for the Patriot girls, dominating the 100 freestyle by more than seven seconds with a time of 1:00.31. She won the 50 freestyle at 27.67.
Vormohr added victories in her specialty events, each by about eight seconds. She finished the 100 butterfly in 1:03.28 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.88.
Landfair, Vormohr, Aly Miller and Briann Saxman combined to take both the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays in times of 1:52.51 and 4:14.64 respectively.
