HARTFORD CITY - Had the Bruin boys and girls combined their scores, they still wouldn't have come close to having enough points to defeat either Jay County High School swim team.

The Patriots dominated Tuesday, winning 22 of 24 events and taking first and second place 13 times. The boys team improved to 8-3 with a 126-41 victory while the girls jumped above .500 by winning 135-50.

Tom McCord, Aaron Hudson and Sam Miller each won a pair of individual events for the boys while eight different athletes scored victories for the girls team, which went one-two in nine of 12 events.

Highlighting the victories for the girls team (7-6-1) was Stephanie Skiver, who picked up her first career win. She finished the 200-yard individual medley in 2-minutes, 58.22 seconds, holding off a career-best effort (3:01.66) from her sister Tricia in second place.

Nadlie Runyon led the Patriots to a diving sweep, scoring a career-best 189 points. April Acker was second, and Megan Taylor had a career-best 170.65 points in third.

Jay County also swept the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Briann Saxman, Aly Miller, Michelle Landfair and Cori Vormohr posting the winning time of 4:17.73.

McCord and Hudson each led a one-two effort for the boys team, with McCord taking the 50 freestyle in 24.17 ahead of Chance Milligan. He also finished the 500 freestyle in 5:23.04 for first place.

Hudson won the 100 breaststroke by more than 12 seconds ahead of teammate Neal Fennig in 1:17.74, and was also first in the 200 individual medley at 2:19.91.

Sam Miller cruised to wins in the 100 butterfly (55.25) and 100 backstroke (59.12). He, Hudson and McCord teamed with Milligan to take the 200 medley relay in 1:50.58, and he joined Derik Lucas, Nathaniel Imel and Richard Osterholt to lead a one-two 400 freestyle relay finish with a time of 4:04.78.

Hudson, Milligan, Fennig and Nathan Cain took the top spot with a time of 1:46.55 in the 200 freestyle relay. Fennig took the 200 freestyle at 2:11.62, and Donny McCowan won an uncontested diving competition with 198.55 points.

Vormohr, Aly Miller and Landfair each won an individual event, and contributed to all three relay wins. In addition to leading the sweep in the 400 freestyle relay, then teamed with Ivy Simons to take the 200 medley in 2:13.05 and joined Saxman in winning the 200 freestyle at 1:55.60.

Aly Miller was first in the 500 freestyle at 6:07.96, Landfair won the 100 freestyle at 1:04.13 and Vormohr took the 100 butterfly in 1:06.7. All three led one-two efforts with second-place finishes going to Rachel Osterholt, Caitlin Ruchgy in a career-best time and Nikisha Imel respectively.
