Johnson aids Trojan victory in Taylor Invitational (09/18/06)

Alyssa Johnson got her college career off to a good start.
The Taylor University freshman and Jay County High School graduate was part of a Trojan domination at the Taylor Invitational Sept. 9.
Johnson finished fourth overall as Taylor earned five of the top seven spots on its home course. She finished the 5K race in 21-minutes, 10 seconds.
Joscie Kaup

Jumped to fourth on the Syracuse University all-time digs list just a day after taking over fifth place.
Kaup continued her rapid ascent through the Orange record book with 17 and 21 digs respectively in losses to Western Kentucky and the host Hornets at the Sacramento State Invitational Sept. 9. She passed 1996 graduate Danielle Bethke (1,174) and now has the fourth most digs in school history with 1,194.
The junior was ninth prior to the season, but now stands behind only Christen Casey (1,284), Andrea Carson (1,460) and Rachel Watson (1,791). She ranks No. 1 in Syracuse history in digs per game at 4.13.
Kaup also had two aces against Sacramento State and one assist versus Western Kentucky. She also had 18 digs, two assists and an ace in a loss to U.C. Riverside Sept. 8.
Cameron Hummel
Jay County - 2002
Saw his first football action of the season Sept. 9 in 20-9 Rose-Hulman to Mount St. Joseph.
Hummel missed the Engineers' opening win over Earlham because of injury, but the senior quarterback returned to go 14-of-27 for 150 yards and a touchdown against the two-time Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference defending champions. He tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jared Moore in the third quarter, and finished with 12 yards rushing.
Jenny Gresla
South Adams - 2003
Racked up 58 assists, but couldn't quite keep the Denison University volleyball team's winning streak going as it lost 30-32, 30-20, 25-30, 31-29, 15-12 to Ohio Wesleyan.
Gresla helped lead Denison to a 6-0 start before Wednesday's loss. She also had 48 assists in the final game of the streak, a 30-26, 30-27, 30-26 beating of Earlham Tuesday.

Posted the No. 5 time for the Huntington University women's cross country team at Indiana University's Indiana Open Sept. 9. She finished in 52nd overall in the meet - which included four Division I teams - in 22-minutes, 18 seconds.[[In-content Ad]]
