She's No. 2.
Fort Recovery graduate Joscie Kaup climbed to second on Syracuse University women's volleyball team's all-time digs list Oct. 20 as the Orange defeated West Virginia 30-26, 30-22, 32-34, 30-21.
Kaup picked up 27 digs in the victory, pushing her career total to 1,485. She passed Rachel Carson, who had 1,460 digs from 1989 to 1992, for second place in school history, leaving only Rachel Watson (1,791) ahead of her.
She was also honored as Syracuse's Scholar-Athlete of the Week Oct. 23. She was selected to the Big East All-Academic Team in each of her first two seasons, and has been on the athletic director's honor roll four times.
The junior is also primed to break Watson's single season digs record of 567. She has 554 digs this year heading into today's match against Big East rival Villanova.
Kaup, who is already the school's all-time leader in digs per game, also had four assists and one ace against West Virginia. She added 33 digs, four assists and two aces in a win over Pittsburgh Sunday, and had seven digs and one ace as the Orange lost to Cornell Tuesday.
