NEW CASTLE - Casey Kenney is hoping for a big year. It took him exactly one meet to pick up his first milestone of the season.
Kenney, the 2008 runner-up at 103 points, earned his 100th career win Saturday in leading the Jay County High School wrestling team to a 4-3 record at the New Castle Invitational.
The Patriots picked up wins over Lincoln 62-12, Milan 54-12, Columbus East 46-35 and Lafayette Harrison 38-33. They lost 41-30 to the host Trojans, 48-27 to Connersville and 62-9 to Westfield.
Kenney put together a perfect 7-0 record to take the championship at 119 pounds. He now has 104 career victories.
Andrew Lancaster went 6-1 at 189 points, Michael Daniels was 4-1 at 152 and Matt James was 4-1 in the heavyweight division. Caleb Culy finished 5-2 at 130 pounds, and other winning records at the event came from Ben Theurer (145) and Jake Boyer (215) each at 4-3.
