Local Roundup

The South Adams girls swim team finally lost Thursday. And the boys swim team lost its second meet in a row.

The Norwell Knights were too powerful for both Starfire squads, winning the girls competition 97-73 and the boys competition 97-57.

South Adams totalled just four victories on the night.

Two of the three individual wins came from the Lehmans as Heath and Haleigh dominated the 100-yard butterfly.

Heath won the boys race by nearly seven seconds in a time of 1-minute, 3.71 seconds. Haleigh had a much closer race against Norwell’s Brittany Bieberstien, but still came away with a win in 1:07.85.

The only other individual victory for South Adams was Drew Dull’s win in the 500-yard freestyle. The sophomore took first in 6:11.18.

The girls team (6-1) also added a relay win, with Lehman, Margaret Beymer, Talitha Maven and Chelsea Yoder combining for a time of 4:13.04 to take first in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Starfire boys fell to 4-2 with the defeat.

South Adams will take a few weeks off before returning to action Tuesday, Jan. 6 at Bellmont at 5:30 p.m.
