FORT RECOVERY - The New Knoxville Rangers scored five times in the final three innings Tuesday to hand the Fort Recovery High School baseball team a 6-1 defeat.
Ethan Schoenherr took the loss for the Indians, who have lost 10 straight to drop to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. He gave up two runs - one earned - on two hits and three walks while striking out seven in 4 2/3 innings.
Cody Fiely doubled for the Tribe's only hit, and Jason Pottkotter scored the lone run.
JV softball wins
SIDNEY - Fort Recovery clobbered host Lehman Catholic 15-3 in five innings Tuesday.
Knapke, Jutte take 2
FORT RECOVERY - Haley Knapke and Alex Shelton each won two events Tuesday as the Fort Recovery Middle School girls track team defeated the Ansonia Tigers 81-41.
The Tribe boys lost 77-42.
Knapke finished first in the throwing events with tosses of 26 feet, ½ inch in the shot put and 63 feet, 2 ½ inches in the discus. Shelton took the 100-meter dash in 13.4 seconds and the 200 dash with a time of 29.2.
Bobby Mattraw won the discus by more than eight feet at 37 feet, 11 inches and the discus by more than 25 feet at 102 feet, 2 ½ inches. Josh Pohl was first for the boys team in the 800 run in 2 minutes, 26.7 seconds and the 1,600 run 5:18, and David Trobridge took the 200 dash in 26.4 and the 400 dash in 1:01.
Also adding wins for the girls team were Breanna Jutte (100 hurdles), Elle Sutter (1,600 run), Sierra Pugh (400 dash), Jessica Vogel (800 run) and Deanna Crouch (high jump).[[In-content Ad]]
