Lakeview, Jay tie in regular-season finale (10/02/07)

MARION - It has been about as balanced a season as could be expected.
Jay County High School's boys soccer team finished the year with yet another tie - the fifth of the season - as it finished in a 1-1 deadlock Monday with the Lakeview Christian Lions.
The Patriots (6-5-5) will start the playoffs Thursday when they take on the host Blackford Bruins in sectional semifinal action at 7 p.m. Jay County and Blackford played to a 1-1 tie on Sept. 6.
Chase Ainsworth gave Jay County the lead in their regular-season finale, scoring off a Justen Moser assist with 15 minutes left on the clock in the opening half. The Patriots held the advantage for more than 40 minutes before Lakeview Christian evened the score with just 12 to play.
The Lions had a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal, with Kevin Dirksen saving nine of those for Jay County. Isaac Poole took two shots for the Patriots, and Ainsworth, Brad Horn, Trey Dunn and Derek Bartlett each added one.
Tigers roar past FR
VERSAILLES, Ohio - The Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team slipped to 10-6 Monday with a 25-15, 25-16 loss to the Versailles Tigers.
Haley Wilson paced the Indians with four digs and three points. Shelby Brunswick had three points and an assist, and Nichole Kaiser notched two blocks and one kill.
Gena Wendel finished with three digs, and Holly Thien had one kill.
Tribe falls to Marion
MARIA STEIN, Ohio - The Marion Local Flyers shut out Fort Recovery's junior varsity football team in the second half Monday, topping the visiting Indians 34-8.
Elliott Post did the scoring for the Indians (0-6), catching a 15-yard touchdown pass from Shane Brunswick in the second quarter.
He also caught a two-point conversion pass from Michael Gaerke.[[In-content Ad]]
