Late turnovers cost Tribe
ST. HENRY, Ohio — Turnovers have plagued the Fort Recovery girls basketball team Thursday, just as they have all season.
The Tribe (8-11, 1-8 Midwest Athletic Conference) turned the ball over 14 times in the second half.
The turnovers led to 20 fourth-quarter points for St. Henry as the Redskins defeated the Indians 51-40.
The two teams were deadlocked through the first half, with the Indians clinging to a one-point lead, 20-19. But the Indians’ offense went cold, turning the ball over six times in the third while scoring just seven points.
The Tribe recovered to put up 13 points in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Redskins, who shot 57 percent in the second half.
Tori Lennartz of the Indians led all scorers with 14 points to go with her seven assists.
Kendra Siefring had 11 points and eight rebounds. Kara Jutte added seven points and Caley Schoenherr had five.
Ally Mikesell scored 13 points for the Redskins.
Fort Recovery has two games remaining before it begins sectional play.[[In-content Ad]]
