MARION — Juniors Scott “Scooter” Bruggeman and Luke McClung were in on every goal during the Patriots’ 7-0 victory at Connersville Monday. They had a part in all of Thursday’s scores as well, unfortunately that amounted to just one goal.
Jay County’s boys soccer team slipped to 6-5 with a 4-1 loss to the Marion Giants. The squad is now 2-3 against sectional opponents this year with wins over Blackford and South Adams and losses to Norwell, Bellmont and Marion.
Marion built a 2-0 lead in the first half and score again early in the second before the Patriots got on the board.
Jay County’s lone goal came eight minutes after the intermission as Bruggeman scored off a McClung assist. Bruggeman had three goals against Connersville a night earlier and McClung had one goal and three assists.
The Giants got a second score midway through the second half for the final margin.
The Patriots finished with just two shots on goal as Mason Shreve notched the other.
Marion took 12 shots, with Derek Mills recording eight saves.[[In-content Ad]]
