McMillan lifts East Jay's girls (04/17/07)

Easy Jay's girls track team won big Monday, scoring 72 points as it hosted a three-team meet. Fort Recovery was second with 45 points, and Union City Westside was a distant third with nine.
The Chiefs finished second in the boys competition with 46.5 points. Westside won with 54, and Fort Recovery finished third with 25.5.
Jordan McMillan powered the East Jay girls team with a trio of victories. She was first in the both the high jump (4 feet, 7 inches) and the long jump, while also taking the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.68 seconds.
The only other double winner from the two local schools was Fort Recovery's Kylie Kahlig, who earned her team's only two victories. She tossed 27 feet, 4 inches to win the shot put, and took the 400 run in 1-minute, 8 seconds.
East Jay won both of the 100-meter races with Laura Castillo first in the dash at 14.27 and Ranae Ray winning the hurdles in 18.27. Katie Butcher took the top spot in the 800 run at 2:59, and Leah Wellman finished in 6:29 to take the 1,600 run.
The lone double winner on the boys side for either the Chiefs or the Indians was East Jay's Garrett Krieg. He took the top spot in the 100 dash in 12.21, and had turned in a distance of 17 feet, 1 inch to win the long jump.
The only other win for the Chief boys came from Austin Duncan at a distance of 84 feet, 8 inches in the discus.
Adam Rohrer of Fort Recovery took the other throwing event as he tossed 39 feet, 8 inches in the shot put. Michael Cotterman won the hurdles in 19.2 for the Indians, and Aaron Vagedes took the 400 dash in 1:05.
