Miller leads Jaguar's victory (06/06/08)

The Jaguars held off the Lions for an 8-7 win Thursday night as the season opened in the West Jay Community Center Summer Soccer League.
Ian Miller and Vernon Goodman each scored three times for the Jaguars, who led 4-3 at halftime and managed to keep the one-goal advantage.
Isaac Vaughn had three goals for Lions.
Brendon Whited led the Tigers to a 9-3 victory over the Cheetahs with four goals. Chip Wendel added two goals, and Alex Nelson scored all three for the Cheetahs.
The Lightning beat up on the Twisters 19-1 with Karlie Bullard scoring five times and Daniel Fugiett adding four goals. Hannah Stouder had the lone tally for the Twisters.
Ian McCombs scored seven times to lead the Hurricanes over the Thunder 12-0.
Rockets win at home
Pete Byrum came out of retirement Wednesday, helping the Portland Rockets to win their home opener 9-1 over the Fort Wayne Red Sox.
Byrum, a Jay County High School graduate who did not pitch for the Rockets last season, tossed four shutout innings. Cory Murry, Corey Waldrath and Josh Atkinson each worked an inning of relief.
Corey Locke, Mitch Waters and Aaron Pfeffenberger each had two hits as Portland improved to 2-1 on the year.[[In-content Ad]]
