Miscues lead to Rockets' loss (07/07/06)
Local roundup
The 12th inning proved to be the undoing for the Portland Rockets Thursday.
Playing their second game in as many days, the Rockets fell 3-2 to Indiana Wesleyan at Marion.
Though the Rockets out-hit their hosts, things fell apart in the 12th after Indiana Wesleyan singled, then bunted twice. Misplays by the defense led to Wesleyan’s winning run.
The Rockets runs were provided by a clutch single by Casey Waters with two out in the 5th inning and a sacrifice fly by Cory Locke. Portland stranded runners in scoring position in both the 10th and 11th innings.
The loss drops the Rockets to 11-2 in league play and 15-6 over all.
The Rockets will host Midwest Prospects of Indianapolis at noon on Saturday.
