Mistakes crush Morgan, Starfires (04/19/06)

MONROEVILLE — South Adams’ softball team had more errors than hits Tuesday as it fell to 2-4 with a 7-2 loss to the Heritage Patriots.

Freshman pitcher Ashton Morgan slipped to 0-3, but only one of the seven runs scored against her was earned. She gave up five hits and two walks while striking out five.

Heritage grabbed the lead with three runs in the second inning. South Adams pulled to within one with a pair in the top of the fourth, but the Patriots put the game away by scoring four times in the bottom of the fifth.

Amber Melick doubled and scored a run for the Starfires. Brooke Fox added two hits, and Jana Beitler singled and scored once.

’Cats down FR softball

DELPHOS, Ohio — Errors were a problem for Fort Recovery’s softball team as well. All of the runs for the Delphos Jefferson Wildcats were unearned as they beat the Indians 4-2.

Jefferson scored twice in the second and third innings, and held off Fort Recovery the rest of the way.

Beth May suffered the defeat, giving up four unearned runs on four hits and three walks in three innings. She also struck out three batters.

Renee Evers finished 3-for-4 with a stolen base. Jodi Tobe went 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Kelsie Will scored the other Tribe run, and Sandra Sudhoff and Jennifer Link each had RBIs.[[In-content Ad]]
