GARRETT - Sophomore Hannah Moore and senior Allison Beitler combined to lead the South Adams High School girls cross country team to a second-place finish Saturday in the Garrett Hokem-Karem.
The Starfire boys team placed fourth.
Moore and Beitler teamed for fifth overall in the event with a combined time of 59-minutes, 31 seconds. Sawyer Shane and Kristen Mueselman were seventh in 61:16.
Evan Liechty and Sam Heckard set the pace for the South Adams boys in 51:36 to take seventh place. Joel Hawbaker and Andrew Steffen were 12th in 54:16.

DENVER - The South Adams volleyball team pushed two of its matches to three games, but finished 0-4 Saturday in the North Miami Tournament.
The Starfires forced third games against the host Warriors and Westview, but lost those matches 25-16, 15-25, 15-8 and 25-14, 21-25, 15-9 respectively. In other matches they lost 25-18, 25-19 to Western and 25-20, 25-19 to North Judson.
Hedges aces 13
Bruce Hedges hit a hole-in-one Saturday at Portland Golf Club.
Hedges recorded his first career ace using a 9-iron on the 150-yard, par-3 13th hole. Terry Burgess witnessed the shot.[[In-content Ad]]
