Simply winning has become blasé. The Jay County Summer Swim Team now measures itself by records.
The undefeated squad broke five team records and six pool records as it roared to a 706-473 victory over South Adams Thursday.
The 8-and-younger girls handled many of the records as Jay County improved to 8-0.
Anne Vormohr, Madi Long, Sophie Bader and Cori Stone set new team and pool marks in a pair of relays. They posted a time of 1-minute, 15.04 seconds in the freestyle relay and 1:27.42 in the medley relay.
Vormohr snapped a pair of individual pool records. She was faster than the previous mark by just one hundredth of a second in the long freestyle at 37.17 seconds, and bettered the individual medley mark in 1:35.49.
Bader posted a new team and pool record in the 25-yard butterfly with a time of 19.04.
Vormohr also won the backstroke while Bader added victories in the breaststroke and short freestyle.
In the 15-and-older division Cori Vormohr added another team record to her resume, snapping coach and cousin Taylor Fullenkamp’s mark in the girls 200 individual medley at 2:42.43. She also broke her own record in the 100 butterfly in 1:12.89.
She added a third victory in the breaststroke.
Sam Miller also earned a new record in the 15-and-older boys 200 individual medley. He finished in 2:23.79, breaking Jason Arnold’s 18-year-old record by more than one second.
Six other swimmers also won three events apiece as Jay County took 44 of 60 overall and 14 of 20 relays.
Sok Vormohr joined his sisters by taking first place in the 8-and-younger boys backstroke, individual medley and short freestyle.
Caitlin Mark and Lucas Holcomb won the butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle in the 9-10-year-old girls and boys divisions respectively. In the 13-14-year-old division Ali Miller and Aaron Hudson each took their respective long freestyle and individual medley races while Miller won the short freestyle and Hudson was first in the butterfly.
Lucas Holcomb won the 11-12-year-old boys butterfly, backstroke and short freestyle.
