Collegiate Check-up
Tyler Niekamp and his University of Findlay teammates won't ever be part of Division I's March Madness. But he and the Oilers did involve themselves in a little exhibition insanity.
Niekamp played 11 minutes, pulling down one rebound and added an assist Tuesday in Division II No. 5 Findlay's 70-68 exhibition upset of Ohio State.
The 2003 Fort Recovery High School graduate, playing in his final season with the Oilers, also had seven points, and two rebounds in an 81-78 exhibition loss Nov. 1 to Dayton. He finished 1-of-2 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Findlay, which went 29-2 last year, opens the regular-season schedule Friday against Christian Brothers at the Northern Kentucky Tip-Off Classic.
