No. 2 Eagles top JC in three (08/18/06)
JCHS volleyball
MUNCIE - The Jay County volleyball team opened its season Thursday, suffering a 25-14, 25-11, 25-10 loss to the Class 3A No. 2 Delta Eagles.
Delta, the defending sectional champion, was strong at the net, limiting the visiting Patriots to just eight kills in the three-game set. Senior Theresa Reinhart shared the team high with two kills, and also had nearly half of Jay County's digs as she finished with eight.
Fellow senior Erica Clark had team highs of three points and 10 assists.
Juniors Sarah Mescher and Stephanie Wellman each had two kills, and Shelby Rines added four digs and two points.
Junior varsity
Chelsea Grady had five digs and one ace as Jay County lost 25-10, 25-21 to the Eagles.
Kristi Morningstar also had five digs, Liz Walker notched 10 assists, and Amy Powell and Kelci Reed each scored three points. Sarah Westgerdes totaled four kills, and Julie Alig and Lindsey Current each added two.[[In-content Ad]]
