No. 3 Tribe tops Loramie

FORT RECOVERY — A night after fighting off a tough conference opponent late, the Indians took control early Saturday.
The Division IV No. 3 Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team led by double digits throughout the second half Saturday in a 50-33 victory over the Fort Loramie Redskins.
The Indians (13-1) pushed their lead to double digits with a 9-0 run in the second quarter, and led by as many as 24.
Wade Gelhaus had 18 points for the Tribe, which topped New Knoxville by 10 Friday. Elijah Kahlig hit four 3-pointers and added 13 points, and Jared Kahlig scored 12 points.
In the junior varsity game, Michael Joash had seven points as FRHS fell 35-24. The freshman team got seven points from Dillon Whitacre in a 40-23 loss.

Swimmers take 2nd
TROY, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s swim teams each finished second Saturday in a five-team meet at Troy YMCA.
The Indian boys scored 78 points to finish second to Eaton (125) while the girls posted 64 points to take the runner-up spot behind Lehman Catholic (115).Marshall Hull turned in the top individual effort for the Indians, winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 5.05 seconds. He also teamed with Lane Hull, Andy Gray and Mitch Homan for a winning time of 1:44.82 in the 200 freestyle relay.
Cassie Gray took second in the 200 freestyle for the girls team in 2:52.75, and Kady Ellenbarger was the runner-up in the 200 individual medley in 3:17.22.

FORT RECOVERY — Twelve players scored for the Indians Saturday in an 88-13 victory over the Ansonia Tigers.
The 88 points for Fort Recovery (12-3) was the most since last season’s meeting between the two squads, when the Tribe won 90-38. The most points it had scored this season came in a 62-43 victory over New Bremen.
Kylie Kahlig scored 13 points to lead five Indians in double figures. Kelsey Fiely, Janelle Schwieterman and Kelly Nietfeld all had 12 points, and Olivia Schwieterman scored 10.
Fort Recovery held the Tigers to 12 percent shooting for the game and had a 53-2 lead at halftime.

MS boys split
FORT RECOVERY — The Tribe’s eighth grade boys basketball team picked up its 10th win Saturday, 44-17 over the St. Marys Roughriders. The seventh graders fell, 43-20.
Kyle Schroer and Jackson Hobbs each scored nine points as the FRMS eighth graders improved to 10-3. Brandon Schoen added six points.
Jason Roessner finished with six points for the seventh grade team (3-10). Caleb Martin and Calvin Rammel tallied four points apiece.[[In-content Ad]]
