No. 6 'Skins defeat Tribe

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians led the No. 6 team in the state by as many as eight points in the first half. But the third quarter left them in a hole they could not escape.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team, which is ranked eighth by The Associated Press in this week’s Division IV poll, gave up nine straight points to open the second half Tuesday as it fell 65-58 to the No. 6 Fort Loramie Redskins.
Fort Loramie (12-2) claimed the lead on a Darian Rose jumper at the first-half buzzer and proceeded to extend its advantage to 10 points in the opening minutes of the third quarter. The Redskins pushed ahead by as many as 14 before FRHS closed the gap in the final minute.
Tori Lennartz had game highs of 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Tribe in the defeat. Chelsea Pott-kotter hit three 3-pointers and added nine points and four boards.
Rose paced Fort Loramie with 20 points, and Ranae Meyer joined her in double figures with 10. Haley Moore grabbed six rebounds.
The Indians lost the junior varsity game 57-32. Kirsten Jutte led the way with 15 points.

Starfire boys win
BERNE — The South Adams boys swim team won each of the final two relays Tuesday as it scored 132 points to win a three-team meet over the visiting Celina Bulldogs (97) and Huntington North Vikings (81).
The Starfire girls scored 105 points to finish behind Celina (143) and a head of Huntington North (73).

David Steffen led a one-two SAHS finish ahead of teammate Daniel Burson in the boys 50 freestyle in 24.78 and took first place in the 100 freestyle in 55.84. Drew LeFever earned victories as he posted times of 2:23.62 in the 200 individual medley and 58.19 in the 100 butterfly.
Chris Inniger, Cory Sank, Steffen and LeFever teamed to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:51.82.
Kara DeLong posted wins for the girls team in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.33 and the 100 butterfly in 1:02.95, and Cady Farlow took the 100 freestyle in 56.37 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.31.
Sank added the only other individual victory for the SAHS boys with a time of 5:37.1 in the 500 freestyle, and Inniger followed in second place. Sank also joined Jesse Sutton, Inniger and Burson to take the top spot with a time of 1:44.45 in the 200 freestyle relay.

Fort girls fall
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School girls basketball teams each suffered losses Tuesday to the Versailles Tigers. The seventh grade squad took its first loss of the season by a 34-32 final, and the eighth graders fell 37-30.
Grace Thien scored 16 points to lead the seventh grade Indians (8-1), whose rally came up just short after they trailed 21-12 at the half. Claire Metzger added seven points.
Jocie Kaiser finished with 11 points to pace the eighth grade team (6-4), which fell behind by seven in the third quarter after the game was tied at halftime. Whitney Will finished with eight points.[[In-content Ad]]
