Parkway tops Tribe softball

ROCKFORD, Ohio — Both teams recorded five hits Thursday, but it was the Panthers who took advantage of their opportunities.
Fort Recovery High School’s softball team struggled to get runners across the plate Thursday as it fell 7-1 to host Parkway.
Andi Sutter took the loss, giving up seven runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six batters. The Panthers scored four times in the second inning and never trailed.
Olivia Schwieterman paced the FRHS offense with two hits, a stolen base and a run. Olivia Thien had an RBI, and other hits for the Indians (6-7, 1-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) came from Stacy Gehle, Karissa Will and Sutter.

Star netters fall
BERNE — The South Adams girls tennis team got swept in singles matches Thursday in a 3-2 loss to the visiting Adams Central Flying Jets.
Lindsey Graber and Kassy Potts rolled to victory at No. 1 doubles, defeating Madeline Albert and Abby Stimpson 6-1, 6-3. Abbie Campbell and Holly Taylor earned the victory at No. 2 doubles 6-4, 6-4 over Shelby Kiess and Andrea Fruchte.
Alex Fox took a game in each set in a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Maddi Wherling at No. 2 singles. Aine O’Donnell fell 6-1, 6-0 to Allison Gutierrez at No. 1 singles, and Mallory Eicher lost 6-0, 6-0 to Alysha Helmrich at No. 3 singles.
The Starfires dropped the junior varsity match 8-0.

Cavs top FR baseball

COLDWATER, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s baseball team managed just one hit Thursday in an 11-1, six-inning loss to the Coldwater Cavaliers.
Elijah Kahlig had the lone hit for the Indians, who fell to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. Chad Schroer walked and scored a run, and Hayden Pottkotter notched an RBI.
Shane Pottkotter took the loss as he allowed six runs on seven hits and five walks in two innings.

SA softball loses
BERNE — South Adams gave up 11 hits and 13 walks Thursday in an 18-4, six-inning loss to the visiting Bluffton Tigers.
Alyssa Bluhm took the loss as 11 of the 18 runs against her were earned. Bluffton scored three times in the fourth inning, five in the fifth and six in the sixth to put the game away.
Lily Taing paced the offense for the Starfires (1-4) with a double, a run and two RBIs. Jennifer Miller, Rachel Hirschy and Alexis Fort each added a single and a run.

Ontrop, Tobe lead FR
FORT RECOVERY — Kelsee Ontrop and Beca Tobe carried the Fort Recovery junior varsity softball team to a 6-5 victory Thursday over the visiting Parkway Panthers.
Ontrop racked up three hits and scored three times, and Tobe had the other two hits and three runs for the Tribe. Tobe also drew two walks, and Ontrop added one.
Tobe earned the victory as she struck out seven batters in seven innings. She allowed five runs — three earned — on 10 hits and 10 walks.[[In-content Ad]]
